Our Team

Filip De Wandel

Filip De Wandel was born in Belgium. He grew up in the show jumping world of Belgium, sharing a passion for horses with his family. At an early age he became an accomplished competitor and trainer of young horses. He now competes in the jumper ring at all levels. He has many years of experience in the breeding industry of the Showjumper, in addition to all of the skills that go along with that part of the industry including knowledge of the european jumping bloodlines and handling and riding young horses. His expertise does not stop there. He is passionate about and proven to be successful at producing a young showjumper, starting with the groundwork, flatwork, jumping and ultimately competition. In fact he was the first rider for the famous breeding stallion and showjumping legend “Clinton”. Filip believes that the showjumper’s foundation begins at home with a studied and dedicated daily attention to detail and an individualized program based on the needs of each horse. Filip trained and competed several horses up to results in the 7 year old Belgian championships that were then sold and went on to be international champions including: Sylvana (Kevin Staut), Abbervail van het Dingeshof (Dennis Lynch), Myra (Lieven Devos)

Eliza Lehrman

Eliza Lehrman is originally from New York. She has had the benefit of training with several great horsemen from the USA and Europe, including: Norman Dello Joio (USA Olympic and World Cup rider/trainer), Andre Dignelli (Pan American games rider and top equitation trainer in the country), Robert Smith (GBR team showjumping rider) Michelle Grubb (USA team showjumping rider/trainer), Stanny Van Paesschen (Belgian team rider and chef d’equipe for many teams), Robert Crandall (Top hunter and equitation rider and trainer) and Kate Oliver (Advanced equitation and hunter trainer). Eliza competes in the jumper ring and is a successful Grand Prix and young horse rider and trainer. She has top results in all levels of FEI, up to the 5*rating.  Eliza works with the knowledge and foundation of the American Showjumping system from the equitation, hunter, and jumper experts with whom she worked. She ran a successful jumper/hunter client and sales barn for 10 years in Bedford, NY. She then moved to Belgium. There she gained important experience and perspective from living and riding in Belgium, thereby acquiring additional training techniques. She has created a unique and personal training and teaching style that is a combination of what she believes to be the best of the principles she has learned along the way. The basis of her training is grounded in the fundamentals of position, balance, and connection. The foundational classical use of seat and leg principles, combined with the “forward” riding and light seat technique of the recent greats in the USA combine to inform her riding style. In her teaching, she focuses on the details to help each client attain their specific goals.  For the horses in training, the goal is to encourage, educate and allow the horses to attain their full potential through correct, diligent and patient training and show experience. When her horses are sold, the new owner can be assured of a horse with a strong foundation, rideability and potential for continued success.

She has over 20 years of experience teaching students at all levels of riding. She excels in the explanation of the details in flatwork and use of exercises that help to develop the performance and confidence of both horse and rider. Eliza enjoys sharing with others the elements of the process she uses to produce a resilient, successful, and confident show horse.  She offers consulting in all areas of the industry and sport. These areas include horsemanship, management, riding fundamentals and theory.  She successfully identifies and produces both jumpers and hunter/equitation horses for the future showjumping market; and she has a proven record of connecting clients and professionals with the right next horse.
